PITTSBURGH-The Community College of Allegheny County's South Campus will host its second 5K race on Sunday, October 20, at 9:00 a.m. The event is open to the community, and participants may run, jog or walk, with the goal of completing the course in 90 minutes or less. Proceeds from the race will benefit CCAC South Campus student clubs and organizations.
The South Campus Student Government Association is sponsoring the race to increase wellness opportunities for the campus and the community, and many students involved in campus clubs and organizations will serve as volunteers on race day.
Trophies will be awarded to the overall top male and female winners, and medals will be awarded to the top three males and the top three females in each age group. Runners will be competing in seven age groups: 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.
Cost to register through October 5 is $25; cost to register through October 13 is $30. Current CCAC students will receive a $10 discount. Same day registration is $35 ($25 for current students), and a T-shirt is not guaranteed. Children ages 9 and under may run the course (not timed) with a registered participant and will receive a 5K completion certificate. A waiver for their participation must be completed the day of the event.
Race check-in and bib pick-up will take place from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. across from the campus bus stop and will end under the bridge to B Building. Free parking will be available in G lot. The campus will be closed to traffic between 8:45 and 10:00 a.m.
